What are the 2026 federal tax brackets?
For single filers: 10% to $12,400, 12% to $50,400, 22% to $105,700, 24% to $201,775, 32% to $256,225, 35% to $640,600 and 37% above. Married couples filing jointly have double the single thresholds up to the 35% bracket, which ends at $768,700.
What is the standard deduction for 2026?
$16,100 for single filers, $32,200 for married couples filing jointly and $24,150 for heads of household. Itemize only if your deductions are larger.
How much is FICA?
Employees pay 6.2% Social Security on wages up to $184,500 and 1.45% Medicare on all wages, plus 0.9% Additional Medicare above $200,000. Employers pay the same 6.2% and 1.45%.
How much can I put in a 401(k) in 2026?
$24,500 of elective deferrals, plus catch-up contributions if you are 50 or older.
