Common questions

What is the UK VAT registration threshold?

£90,000 of VAT-taxable turnover in any rolling 12 months, or if you expect to exceed it in the next 30 days alone. The deregistration threshold is £88,000.

How do I work out VAT included in a price?

Divide the VAT-inclusive price by 6 for standard-rated goods: VAT at 20% is one sixth of the gross amount.

When are VAT returns due?

One month and seven days after the end of each VAT period, through Making Tax Digital software. Payment is due by the same date.
